China agrees to invite WHO expert after he found negative in second COVID-19 test

China has agreed to invite a British expert of the World Health Organization (WHO) COVID-19 research team to come to China after the expert tested negative in a new round of COVID-19 antibodies test, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Friday.

The British expert was among two WHO team members who did not board a flight to China after they tested positive for IgM antibodies in Singapore on Thursday. 

In a further test for antibodies, the British expert got a negative result, said Zhao Lijian, a spokesperson from the ministry on Friday, adding that China has now agreed on the British expert's trip to the country.

On Thursday, 13 scientists from the WHO arrived in Wuhan, once the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak, to cooperate with their Chinese peers in researching the potential origin of the novel coronavirus.
